Welcome

Chedoke Creek is an urban creek that runs through the west end of Hamilton from atop the Niagara Escarpment to Cootes Paradise.

The following walk traces the footsteps of the family story of Michael Hess and his 10-year-old son, Peter, as they follow Chedoke Creek from its mouth to its source on the Mountain in 1788, when Head-of-the Lake (Hamilton) was just beginning to attract settlers of European descent. At the creek’s spring they started Spring Farm, returning the next year with the rest of their family.
